3.7 million Afghan children are out of school across Afghanistan

KABUL: More than 3,000 students at one of the schools located in PD 7th of Kabul city are lacking classrooms and are left with no other option but to study under the hot waves of sun.
The Ghulam Farooq Secondary school is located in PD 7 of Kabul city.
“There is no book and tent,” said a student, Shafiq. “We sit under the sunlight all day long. We have been studying here for more than five years.”
There are 60 teachers at Ghulam Farooq secondary school.
“If we want to build a country, we must pay attention to education and we need teachers for that,” said Mehria, who is working as a part time teacher at the school.
According to the ministry of education, 3.7 million children are deprived of education across Afghanistan.
Najiba Aryan, a spokesman for the ministry said that the ministry has been making all-out efforts to provide educational facilities for the children who lack access to schools. “The education ministries and responsible organizations have been trying to boost the number of students in the schools,” he added.
This comes as the World Bank announced 25-million-dollar aid for Afghanistan to support the educational department and improve children’s access to education.
