KABUL: A number of civil rights activists and other residents in the southern province of Helmand on Sunday launched a campaign on peace titled “what does war mean when foreigners leave?”
The campaign is called “public”, with Eqbal Khyber, the head of public movement for peace, saying that they aim to encourage the Afghan war sides to stop killing of the people. “We need to ask this question that the foreigners are leaving, so what does it mean to continue war?”
He called on the international society to accelerate efforts for a political settlement and end of violence.
Taliban are intensifying violence across the country despite Washington’s readiness for withdrawal of soldiers.
