KABUL: At least 81 Taliban insurgents were killed and 52 others were wounded during latest military crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces in different provinces in the past 24 hours.
The Afghan forces supported by the Afghan Air Forces conducted operations and counter attacks against Taliban rebels in Kunar, Ghazni, Badghis, Balkh, Kandahar, Faryab, Kunduz, Helmand and Takhar province, in which 81 Taliban insurgents were killed and 52 others were wounded, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Sunday.
Some 19 rounds of mines planted by the Taliban to target civilians and security forces were also discovered and defused, the statement added.
Enough weapons and ammunition were destroyed during these clampdowns, the statement underlined.
