KABUL: Residents in the northern provinces of Samangan and Daikundi suffered huge financial losses in flash flood that hit several parts of the provinces.
A spokesman of the state ministry for natural disaster management, Ahmad Tamim Azimi said that more than 20 houses were completely destroyed and 10 trucks damaged as flood flowed across Samangan. According to him, the flood hit around tens of acres of agricultural lands. The flood flashed from Koh-e-Shahkul located in Dar-e-Suf district.
The flood also caused financial damages in some parts of Ashtarlay district of Daikundi. According to some reports, one person was killed in the flood.
It is worth mentioning that parts of Afghanistan including Ghor, Baghlan and Wardak provinces have witnessed severe floods in the ongoing year. Azimi said that more than 200 homes were destroyed in the floods, but no causality was reported.
