KABUL: At least 181 Taliban insurgents were killed and 78 others wounded during crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces in different provinces over the past 24 hours.
Afghan forces supported by air force have conducted operations and counter-attacks against Taliban rebels in Laghman, Ghazni, Kandahar, Zabul, Herat, Helmand and Baghlan provinces, which as result 181 insurgents were killed and 78 others wounded, said a statement issued by Ministry of Defense (MoD) on Tuesday.
The statement said that 94 land mines planted by Taliban to target civilians and security forces were discovered and defused by Afghan security and defense forces.
“A large number of weapons and ammunition of the enemy were destroyed,” underlined the statement.
