KABUL: The Afghan security forces and the Taliban engaged into unceasing clashes in the provinces of Ghazni and Baghlan that also left 27 security forces killed.
The representative of Ghazni people in the lower house of the parliament (Wolesi Jirga), Arif Rahmani said that the insurgents overrun three military outposts in Ghazni.
“If required equipments were not sent to Ghazni and the airstrikes were not conducted, I think, Ghanzi would collapse,” he added. According to reports, there are severe armed conflicts raging on in the districts of Khogianai, Jaghato and Khwaj-e-Omari.
The ongoing fighting between the two sides has purportedly inflicted casualties on the residents.
“The clashes are intense. It is still continuing and some the residences stuck in conflicts of the two sides,” said, a resident Abdul Manan.
The security forces and Taliban have intensified offensives in the northern province of Baghlan after the militants overrun Burka district of the province. According to security officials, the security forces have escalated attacks to wipe the militants out of Dand-e-Ghor, Baghlan-e-Markazi and Nahrin districts.
Deputy Commander of 209-Shaheen_-corps, Abass Tawkali said that the military offensive launched to retake the areas from the Taliban in the outskirt of Pul-e-Khumri.
The sources, who wished to go unnamed, said that hundreds of people including public uprising forces and former jihadi fighters have been armed by the intelligence agency to fight the Taliban in Baghlan.
The Defense Ministry said that at least 250 Taliban fighters were killed in seven of 34 provinces.
Acting minister of defense, Mohammad Yasin Zia said earlier that the security forces are in aggressive position and that the militants have suffered heavy casualties in clashes.
