KABUL: The Long War Agency in a recent report said that 19 percent of the Afghanistan’s soil is controlled by the Taliban.
The agency said that it has collected the information from the media reports and government organizations. The Long War published a graphic map that shows 47 of the Afghan population is living in conflict areas where the Taliban and security forces engaged in severe clashes.
Based on the agency’s statics the ISI-K or so called Daesh group holds control on five areas of the eastern province of Kunar.
A government source, talking on condition of anonymity, termed the map as inaccurate. The source claimed that the government maintains control on the populous areas in Afghanistan. He said that the Taliban control a way less areas than it is described in the map.
This comes as the insurgents groups have surged violence countrywide, inflicting heavy casualties on the Afghan security forces. The Taliban also have taken control of several districts in different provinces.
The U.S. and International forces are on track to withdraw while the Afghan peace process is yet to reach any breakthrough.
