KABUL: At least 90 Taliban insurgents have been killed and 45 others wounded in a series of military operations conducted by the Afghan security forces in different provinces across the country in the past 24 hours, the defense ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
Backed by the Afghan Air Forces, the Afghan security forces conducted operations and counter attacks against Taliban rebels in Maidan Wardak, Logar, Zabul, Herat, Farah, Faryab, Jawzjan, Helmand, Baghlan, Takhar and Kabul provinces, in which 90 Taliban insurgents were killed and 45 others wounded, the ministry’s statement added.
Also, 31 rounds of mines that were planted by the Taliban insurgents to target civilians and security forces were discovered and defused during the military stings, the statement added.
Huge amount of weapons and ammunition of the enemy were also destroyed.
