KABUL: As the negotiations between the government and Taliban delegations stalled in Doha capital of Qatar, the group has recently accused President Ghani’s administration for delaying the talks.
A Taliban official, Amir Khan Mottaqi said in a voice message that the government is creating hurdles on the path to before the peace process.
He claimed that the group held control on majority areas of Afghanistan. According to him, the insurgents wanted to ceasefire instead of reducing violence.
Mottaqi also mentioned the collapse of Dawlat Shah district of Laghman and several other districts to the Taliban, calling on the group’s fighters to provide facilities for people living under their control.
The government didn’t immediately react in this regard but earlier accused the militants of being reluctant to engage into negotiations.
Early this month, the Taliban spokesman in Qatar, where the group maintains a political office, said that the delegation of the two sides hold talks and stressed on acceleration of peace negotiations.
President Ashraf Ghani said earlier that there is no more excuse to continue violence as the foreign troops are preparing to exit.
He called on the insurgents to denounce violence. Head of the National Directorate of Security, Ahmad Zia Saraj said that the group has intensified their violence by 24 percent compare to the previous time.
