KABUL: Sources in the government confirm that Taliban fighters took control of a regional army base and several of their outposts in Nangarhar province.
The sources said Wednesday that the base and outposts fell to Taliban in the districts of Pachiragam and Haska Mina.
“Taliban have taken several posts in the Haska Mina district.”
Obaid Shinwari, a member of provincial council, also confirmed that Taliban took control of three outposts and killed two regional army forces while 16 wounded.
Officials in the Haska Mina and Pachiragam, confirmed the fall of military posts to Taliban, but did not provide details on the casualties.
Taliban said in a statement that their fighters seized government posts and inflicted casualties on the government forces and took some of them hostage.
