KABUL: The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) has called on an international fact-finding team to investigate the human crimes including targeted killings, attacks on tribal and religious minorities as well as educational institutions.
The Commission said Sunday that the government of Afghanistan should support their demand and cooperate in forming the fact-finding team, while commemorating the death anniversary of two of its staff who were killed last year in a magnetic bomb attack in Kabul.
The Commission said that the government and other responsible bodies did not convince them about the arrest of the perpetrators of killing of Fatema Khalil and Javed Foolad its killed colleagues.
In a statement, the Commission expressed regret that their demands over the targeted killings of media activists and human rights workers were not met by the government.
“The government should be accountable and should fight against impunity so that the rights of people be saved.”
Tens of people mostly civilians including civil right activists, media workers and human rights advocates have been killed in targeted killings in parts of the country mostly in Kabul in the past one year.
