KABUL: The Afghan security forces have seized control of Kaldar district in Balkh province from the Taliban, the interior ministry confirmed on Monday.
More than 20 militants were killed and several others wounded in clashes with the security forces, said the ministry in a statement.
The statement added, clearance operations are still going on in the district.
Meanwhile, government forces targeted Taliban gathering in Sabz area of Pashtun Kot district of northern Faryab province, killing six Taliban terrorists including, local commander of the group, known, as Khebar Aka Pakistani and wounding nine others.
The terrorists recently came from Pakistan to Faryab for carrying terroristic and destructive activities.
This comes as Taliban intensified their attacks across the country and captured the centers of hundreds of districts and important trade ports.
