KABUL: Two “important regional and international sessions” are expected to be held soon in Qatar to discuss peace efforts in Afghanistan, foreign minister Hanif Atmar said.
Atmar said that Afghanistan’s international allies have been called to attend the session, adding that Taliban should be barred from “barbaric attacks on cities”.
He said Kabul’s message is clear to stop conflict in cities, hold violence perpetrators accountable and speed up the ongoing peace process.
“We want the regional states and international community to explain end of war and agreeing on a political settlement to Taliban in these two sessions,” Atmar said Tuesday.
He accused Taliban of standing not only against Afghans, but they also threaten the region and the world.
The foreign minister accused Taliban of paving the ground for bases for international terrorist groups which he urged the world be be serious about the threat.
