KABUL: More than 285 attacks of the Taliban militants have been repulsed and 643 terrorists were killed by Afghan security forces in eastern Nangarhar province in the past two months, according to officials.
According to a statement issued by Nangarhar Press Disk, Nangarhar Police Chief Sultan Dawod said that Afghan forces succeeded in pushing back 285 assaults of the Taliban in different districts of the province in the past two months.
He said that 643 rebels including three commanders were killed and 153 others wounded during crackdowns.
Nine vehicles, 49 rifles of weapons and tens of hideouts of the enemy destroyed during operations, he added.
On the other hand 178 suspects were arrested on criminal charges by police in the province in the past one month, he noted.
He stated that six weapons and six vehicles were discovered and confiscated from the indicts.
