KABUL: The Taliban militants have shot a 21-year old girl dead, blaming her for not wearing a veil in Balkh district of northern Balkh province, an official said on Wednesday.
Provincial Police spokesman, Adil Shah Adil said that the incident happened on Tuesday in Samarkandian area of Balkh district of the province.
He identified the slain girl as Nazaneen, who was dragged out by Taliban from a car while she was on her way to Balkh district center.
Taliban spokesman ZabihullahMujahid denied the report. Balkh district of Balkh province is under the control of the Taliban.
Earlier, local officials said that Taliban imposed sever restrictions on women in the province.
Balkh is insecure province in the north, where Taliban are active in many parts of the province, recently the province witnessed fierce clashes between the security forces and the Taliban.
