KABUL: A three-day meeting of representatives of Afghanistan partners in peace process begins on Tuesday in Doha, officials said on Monday.
The State Ministry for Peace said that the three-day meeting of the Special Representatives of partner countries in Afghanistan peace will start in Doha on Tuesday.
Najiya Anwari, spokeswoman for the state ministry, said that the purpose of the meeting was to coordinate the countries involved in the peace process, accelerate the peace process and stop the ongoing violence in Afghanistan.
She reckoned that Abdullah Abdullah, Chairman of High Council for National Reconciliation, Masoom Stanekzai, Chairman of the government’s negotiating committee, and Seyed Saadat Mansour Naderi, State Minister for Peace, will attend the three-day meeting from Afghanistan.
The summit will be hosted by Qatar in cooperation with the United Nations and the United States and will last until August 12.
On August 3, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Hanif Atmar, announced the holding of this meeting and the meeting of the “Extended Troika”. Atmar had said at the time that the countries participating in the two meetings had received the message from Afghanistan.
Atmar stressed that the Afghan governments wants these two summits to exhibit the resolve of the international community to the Taliban politically.
