Kabul: A spokesman for Resistance Front, the last holdout against Taliban in Panjshir, was killed in clashes with the Taliban after the group laid siege to and captured the valley following days of intensive fighting, say media reports.
Fahim Dashti, who also worked as a journalist, was killed in fierce clashes with the Taliban fighters in Panjsher valley north of Kabul.
Multiple sources in the National Resistance Front confirmed Dashti’s killing on Sunday to several Afghan and foreign news organisations.
Gen Abdul Wadood was also killed by the Taliban, one source told a UAE-based newspaper both lost their lives in targeted attacks.
The National reported Dashti was killed while advising resistance leader Ahmad Massoud on defending the strategic valley.
Also on Sunday, resistance sources said former vice-president Amrullah Saleh’s residence in Panjsher valley was attacked by Taliban-manned helicopters.
However, the explained ex-VP had moved to another location and that he was safe.
