KABUL: The Islamic Movement of Taliban denied the reports of the Human Rights Watchdogs regarding the alleged war crimes by the fighters of the movement.
A spokesman for the group and deputy minister of information and culture, Zabihullah Mujahid termed the reports as baseless.
The Human Rights Watchdogs said that the Taliban fighters committed war crimes in the northern province of Panjshir amid severe fighting ragging between their fighters and the resistance militias. “We strongly reject the HRW report that the mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate have committed war crimes,” Mujahid added.
After the Taliban Islamic Movement and the Resistance Frontier failed to reach an agreement over the formation of the new government, fierce fighting erupted between the two sides, however, the Taliban overrun the province within one week.
