KABUL: Islamic Movement of the Taliban is able to restrain the ISIS-K extremist group in Afghanistan, a Taliban official said on Monday.
Zabiullah Mujahid, deputy minister of information and culture downplays the activities of the ISIS-K group, saying that the group is incapable of posing threats in the country. At least two groups involved in the recent blasts were detained, according to Mujahid.
“Daesh is not a threat, because the thought of Daesh is a hated thought among the people,” Mujahid was quoted by TOLO News as saying “no one supports them. Second, our combat against Daesh was effective in the past and we know how to neutralize their techniques.”
ISIS-K or so-called Daesh group asserted responsibility for the recent attacks in capital Kabul and eastern Nangarhar province- that also left several people wounded and dead.
Meanwhile, some political analysts are alarming of a new wave of violence considering the recent attacks carried out by the Daesh group.
