Abdul Zuhoor Qayomi-KABUL: Five more ministers-designate on Monday briefed the Wolesi Jirga (WJ) members over their future programs.
Ministerial nominee for economy Abdul Satar Murad, nominee for Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Technology Abdul Raziq Whedi, minister-designate for water and energy Ali Ahmad Usmani, nominee for commerce and industries Humayon Rasa and minister-designate for Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Asadullah Zamir elaborated their plans.
Proper management of investments in mining sector, improvement of domestic industries and development of the private sector were outlined as priorities by the ministerial nominee for economy. Abdul Satar Murad said the government’s support for the ministry would be required to implement projects that are designed to improve the national economy.
He said that monitoring and assessment of economic projects, cooperation and coordination among donors and work over mega projects such as CASA-1000 and TAPI are part of his future strategies.
Abdul Razaq Wahedi told the parliamentarians that fiber optic project would be expanded to all parts of the country and registration of the SIM cards would be made mandatory.
He put special emphasize on expansion of the telecommunication frequency and distribution of computerized national identity cards. Provision of postal services is also part of his future program if got vote of confidence.
“Every home will get electricity and cultivable lands will be irrigated if I get vote of confidence,” said Ali Ahmad Usmani.
He also promised of hiring experienced water and energy experts, management of water and energy sources efficiently, construction of small and mega hydropower stations and dams, completion of the designed hydropower projects, equal distribution of water and energy and generation of power from wind, coal, solar and water.
Ministerial nominee for commerce and industries vowed to establish industrial parks, storage centers, support investors, bring balance in exports and imports and speed up work over the Lapis Lazuli Corridor.
Rasa said that he would find markets, both inside and outside of the country, for domestic products especially carpets, adding that state-owned and private industries would be reactivated.
Asadullah Zamir said that improved seeds and fertilizers at subsidized rate would be provided to the farmers, and employment opportunities will be created for youth in agriculture sector.
He added that livestock projects including artificial insemination would be expanded.
Food preservation, improving quality of agri-products, purchase of products from farmers, irrigation management, smart use of water resources were also outlined by him as “top priorities”.
Improving gardening, support for poultry projects and end to deforestation were other contents of his future program.
Eleven out of 16 ministerial nominees have presented their future course of action to the WJ.
