AT-KABUL: Two civilians were killed in Khair Khana area of the capital city on Tuesday.
Eyewitnesses said that gunmen opened fire on a Corolla-model car near Hazrat Omer Farooq (RA) Masjid in the 11th police jurisdiction of Kabul City and succeeded in fleeing way.
According to eyewitnesses the killers were sitting in a vehicle when opened fire. However, the cause of killing is not clear.
Chief of the Crimes Investigation Department (CID) Fared Afzal in a telephonic chat with Afghanistan Times confirmed the incident and said that one of the killed persons was a laborer and the other was a driver.
He said that personal dispute might be behind the killing. “However, police is investigating the case,” the CID chief said, adding that decades of conflict, huge quantity of licensed and unlicensed weapons, disputes over petty issue and population explosion are the key factors responsible for surge in crime rate.
Crime rate has increased in the fortified capital city but there is no end in sight. A money-exchanger was killed on March 23 in Ziarat Street of Sara-e-Shamali area. However, the case was not reported.
