KABUL: Former President Hamid Karzai expressed deep sadness over the closure of schools of girls students in grades 7-12.
On Wednesday, the girls student in grades 7-12 were not allowed to participate in their classes. The Ministry of Education said that the plan over the fate of the students at secondary and high schools has yet to be finalized.
The former president was quoted in a statement released by his office, calling on the Islamic Emirate to reopen girls schools in a bid to pave the ground for a developed Afghanistan. “The former president calls on the caretaker Islamic government to let the paths of girls access to education be opened in order to pave the ground for a developed Afghanistan—which is the hope of all Afghans- and not allow foreigner plots be implemented,” Karzai was quoted in the statement.
