KABUL: Dozens of women who were not accompanied by male guardians were prevented from domestic and international flights at Kabul Airport last Friday, Associated Press reported.
AP quoted two officials close to the matter, who wished to go unnamed from as, saying that these women arrived at Kabul Airport on Friday but were not allowed to board on to both domestic and international flights because they lack a male accompanying them.
Some of them had dual nationalities including some from Canada, AP said, citing sources.
However, head of the Ariana Airlines has reportedly denied the issue, saying that there has been instruction about restrictions on women’s getting on board for flights. The Islamic Emirate has yet to comment on this.
