KABUL: China is due to be hosted for the third meeting of foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighbors on the Afghan situation on Wednesday and Thursday,
The meeting is named “Neighboring Countries of Afghanistan Plus Afghanistan.”
China’s foreign ministry spokesperson, Wang Wenbin told a press conference that the meeting will be chaired by Chinese FM Wang Yi, in which representatives from Russia, Pakistan, Iran, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are expected to attend.
A delegation of the Islamic Emirate, led by the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amir Khan Muttaqi will also attend in the meeting.
“We hope to further understand the Afghan people’s difficulties and needs, convey neighboring countries’ concerns on the Afghan issue, and work on the Afghan side to build an open and inclusive political structure, follow moderate and prudent domestic and foreign policies and earnestly combat terrorism,” Wang Wenbin said.
China’s foreign ministry’s spokesman hoped the international community provide strong support to Afghanistan.
