KABUL: The Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) announced a new timetable for the students of Kabul and Polytechnic universities through which male and female students will study three days a week each.
“Based on the proposal of Kabul University, the instructors and students, this plan is made and come into effect.
From now, three odd-days of the week are for girls and another three days of the week are for boys,” said Khalid Dad Ahmadi Taqa, a spokesman for the Ministry of Higher Education.
The academic council of Kabul University said that the plan will come into effect in other universities across the country. The plan was set to be implemented on Saturday. But the students are critical of the plan, saying that they are facing various types of problems.
“The level of lessons within three days is overwhelming. Due to the recent changes in the country, all students are affected and they will not be able to understand the lessons throughout the day,” said Parween, a student of Kabul university.
Shahpor Bariz, a university instructor stated that the implementation of the new plan is impossible as there is a need for formation of class times. “There are several problems.
First, a timetable should be prepared which is not possible in such a short time.
The ministry allotted 16 weeks for one semester. The level of lessons per week dropped and the period increased from 16 weeks to 28,” he said. Earlier, reports said that dozens of universities’ instructors have left the country following the collapse of the former government.
