KABUL: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) turned down the alleged reports of three members of the Resistance Front being beheaded the civilians’ as well being killed in Panjshir province.
Earlier, the Resistance Front claimed that the Islamic Emirate’s forces beheaded three of its members in Panjshir.
“I can tell you that none of our forces have beheaded anyone,” said Abdul Nafay Takor, a spokesman for the MoI.
“This is an absolute false claim. There has been no incident of civilians’ killing and we didn’t have any incident of beheading people. This is a plot by the people outside of Afghanistan,” said Abubakar Sedeqqi, a spokesman for the Panjshir governor.
This comes as 60 human rights defenders in a letter to the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres claimed that the forces of the Islamic Emirate are targeting the Tajik ethnic group in Panjshir, Baghlan and Takhar provinces. But the local officials in Panjshir denied it.
The alleged reports of civilian casualties have been circulating on social media over the past several days. “The government of the Taliban should provide a direct response to the Afghans and the international community in this regard,” said Aziz Maarij, a military veteran.
Earlier, allegations of civilian casualties in Panjshir, Takhar and Baghlan sparked international reactions.
The Newly appointed Rapporteur of the UN for Afghanistan Human Rights Richard Bennet said earlier that he will investigate the reports about civilians being tortured in Afghanistan and will share the details with the media.
