AT-KABUL: Efforts are underway to curb kidnapping incidents in every hook and cranny of Afghanistan, said the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
Seddiq Seddiqi, a spokesman for the MoI, told Azadi Radio that the ministry has directed police to deal the kidnappers with an iron fist.
“Unfortunately, incidents of kidnapping perturb many of our people. It is serious problem and MoI in cooperation with people will try their best to curb incidents of kidnapping across the country,” he went on as saying.
It is pertinent to mention that incidents of kidnapping have soared throughout the country recently. Unknown gunmen kidnapped 19 deminers in Paktia province the other day, while the fate of 31 Hazara passengers abducted in Zabul province is still unknown. The 31 passengers were kidnapped around two months ago in Shajoi district of Zabul. Four kidnapped people were beheaded in Ghazni province last week.
The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) said that kidnapping and killing of innocent people is in negation to the international human rights law.
Rafiullah Bedar, a spokesman for the commission, said that kidnapping and killing of innocent people is a brutal act and the AIHRC strongly denounce such acts. He added that it was the prime duty of the incumbent government to ensure safety of ordinary people.
