Kabul: China’s special representative for Afghanistan, announcing his country’s readiness to help the Trans-Afghan railway project, considered Afghanistan a bridge between Central and South Asia.
“Yue Xiaoyong”, China’s special representative for Afghanistan, stated at the Tashkent conference that the growth of threats and challenges in Afghanistan can negatively affect regional and global security.
Referring to the connection between poverty and the increase in terrorist threats, he said: Today, 23 million people in Afghanistan do not have food, and the majority of people are below the poverty line. These conditions are used to intensify the activities of international terrorists, including al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, and for ordinary people to join their ranks.
According to “Uzbek Daily”, yong emphasized that the international community should help Afghanistan to overcome the ongoing humanitarian crisis in this country.
The special representative of China further stated that Beijing considers Afghanistan as a bridge between Central and South Asia and is ready to implement trans-regional projects, including the Termez-Mazar-e-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar railway and to support the railway that connects Western China to Central Asia.
He pointed out that the implementation of such huge projects will help to establish lasting peace in Afghanistan and also strengthen regional communication.
