Kabul: Nuruddin Azizi, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Taliban interim government, met and talked with Pavel Sorokin, Deputy Minister of Energy of Russia during his trip to Moscow.
Taliban Minister of Industry and Trade Nuriddin Azizi, was quoted by Russian media Friday as saying that Kabul requires more than 4 million tons of oil and some of it is already being imported from neighboring countries.
He said in this meeting that currently the petroleum and liquid gas materials needed by Afghanistan’s markets and Russia can be one of Afghanistan’s new oil and liquid gas partners.
Russia’s Ria Novosti news agency has reported that the interim government of the Taliban has asked the Russian officials for barter trade.
According to Russian media, Taliban have offered to export minerals, raisins and medicinal plants to Russia instead of money in exchange for oil and other products.
It is stated that Nuruddin Azizi, the Minister of Trade and Industry of the interim government of the Taliban, said that if barter trade between Afghanistan and Russia is not possible, they will buy oil from Russia in exchange for the transfer of money by merchants.
After the US sanctions against the Taliban, it has become difficult to transfer money from Afghanistan.
