Kabul: Pakistani news sources have reported that the Ministry of Food of Pakistan has decided to issue a license to import onions and tomatoes in the next 24 hours.
In this regard, the Pakistani newspaper “Dawn” has reported that the Ministry of Food Security of Pakistan has decided to issue these licenses in the next 24 hours.
However, the Afghanistan Chamber of Agriculture and Livestock (ACAL) said that there is a major need for vegetables in Afghan markets.
This comes as the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock in Afghanistan said that the recent floods have severely affected the harvest across Afghanistan.
“Around 300,000 acres of agriculture lands, 150,000 trees were damaged,” said a spokesman for the ministry.
The Pakistan Ministry of Food and Security has also asked the Federal Tax Board to cancel import taxes and duties on onions and tomatoes for the next three months and expects this to be implemented immediately.
The Ministry of Food Security and National Research of Pakistan added that these measures were taken with the aim of ensuring the supply of basic commodities in the market and stabilizing prices.
Following the recent floods in Pakistan, the price of food in this country has increased unprecedentedly.
On this basis, the government of Pakistan continues its efforts to stabilize the price of food, and issues a license to import onions and tomatoes from Afghanistan and Iran.
