Kabul: Officials of Kandahar Municipality say that they buried the bodies of fifty people who had no heirs in the last one year, Tolo news reports.
The officials added that they recently buried the bodies of 17 people who had been kept in the hospital’s cold storage for eight months in order to find their relatives.
Zamari, the Public Relations Officer of Kandahar Municipality, says clearly: “For the second time in the past year, we buried 17 bodies that had no heirs and were kept in refrigerators.”
Mohammad Abdullah, Deputy Director of Forensic Medicine, says: “These are the bodies whose families are unknown; There are neither their names nor their identity cards.
Wali Muhammad who is in charge of the cold storage of dead bodies at Mirwais Hospital in Kandahar says that some families are still searching for their rare relatives whose bodies are often not found.
He adds: “When the family is missing, we open the refrigerator, and if they are not, we send them to another place.”
Despite the fact that tens of thousands of ordinary Afghans were killed during the past 20 years of war in the country, some families are still wandering after the bodies of their relatives.
