Kabul: The former president of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, met with Markus Potzel, the deputy special representative of UN chief for Afghanistan, and acting director of UNAMA.

In this meeting, the situation in Afghanistan and the region was discussed and both sides insisted on the opening of girls’ schools in Afghanistan.

Hamid Karzai thanked the United Nations for its cooperation with the people of Afghanistan and expressed hope for more assistance.

In addition, the former president emphasized the need for intra-Afghan dialogue to ensure permanent peace and stability in the country.
