AT-KABUL: South Korea offered 150 short-term scholarships to the Independent Administrative Reform and Civil Service Commission (IARCSC) in the field of public administration.
South Korean Ambassador in Kabul, Cha Young Chul, awarded the scholarships and some teaching materials to the General Director of IARCSC Ahmad Mushahid in a ceremony held here in Kabul on Wednesday.
Ahmad Mushahid said the scholarships would be distributed among all governmental organizations through the human resource department. He said the civil servants would have to pass a short test to get the scholarship.
Admiring the Republic of Korea for the humanitarian cooperation, Mushahid pointed out that in the past 13 years Seoul had considerable contribution in different fields, particularly in capacity building and strengthening of education sector.
The Korean ambassador said that Afghanistan is a wealthy country as its profuse natural resources is incomparable in the region and its people are hardworking and intelligent.
He expressed hope that Afghans would achieve the goal of development through hard work as 50 years ago Korean people did.
He said that Korea is committed to support Afghan government in field of capacity building and the international community is standing with Afghanistan.
