Kabul: Rina Amiri, U.S. Special Envoy for Afghan women says that the continuation of the Taliban’s “unfair and destructive” policy of closing the gates of schools above the sixth grade to girls “has no justification.”
The representative of the United States, referring to the protest of girls in Paktia in response to the closure of girls’ schools in this province, says that the policy of depriving girls of education has no religious and cultural justification.
He added that closing girls’ schools is “a pessimistic policy that crushes the dreams and capacities of Afghan girls and leads Afghanistan to poverty and despair.”
Meanwhile, during his visit to Uruzgan, the Acting Minister of Education of the Taliban said that the people do not want the reopening of girls’ schools above the sixth grade in the current situation.
Today, during a meeting, he told the media that due to cultural problems, schools have been closed to girls above the sixth grade.
