Kabul: While there is only one day left for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, “Bilal Karimi”, the deputy spokesman of the Taliban interim government, said that the Afghan ruling body has not been invited to attend this meeting.
The summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization with the slogan “dialogue and cooperation in an interconnected world” is scheduled to be held on Thursday and Friday this week (September 15 and 16) hosted by Uzbekistan in Samarkand.
Karimi stated that the interim government of the Taliban welcomes meetings that benefit the people of Afghanistan and added: We have always had good relations with the members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and we hope that this meeting will have positive results and through diplomatic talks and cooperation with the Afghans, we will solve the problem.
Earlier, “Shaukat Mirzayev”, the president of Uzbekistan and interim chairman of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, stated: Afghanistan is an integral part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the people of Afghanistan need good neighbors and their support now more than ever.
He also stated that Afghanistan has played a buffer role in the historical confrontations of global and regional powers for centuries, and emphasized that now is the time for Afghanistan to try to connect Central and South Asia in a new peaceful mission.
China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, India and Iran are members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the countries of Afghanistan, Belarus and Mongolia are its observer members.
