Kabul: According to Sputnik news agency, the Russian president Vladimir Putin said at SICA member states conference which was held in Astana, Kazakhstan, that while Western intelligence services feed terrorist groups in Afghanistan, Russia maintains the necessary level of contacts with the Taliban.
He also said: “Afghanistan is still a general concern for the region, terrorist attacks, including the explosion near the Russian embassy in Kabul in September, proved that to normalize the situation in Afghanistan, we need to work together to improve the situation. Let’s do it economically.”
He added “On our southern borders, the focus of tension is actually like a fire under the ashes, which brings the risk of the appearance of refugees and terrorist threats.”
Putin also said: Western special services – mainly American, British – feed the opposition organizations of the Taliban and lead them to shelling the borders of some of our countries. We are aware of the risks and threats associated with it and therefore maintain the necessary level of contact with the Taliban leadership.
Shahbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, also said that we want the world to support the people of Afghanistan in their efforts for peace, stability and sustainable development.
Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi also said at the SICA meeting in Kazakhstan: “In Afghanistan, overcoming the vicious cycle of insecurity and instability requires serious determination and taking practical steps through political dialogue, the aim of which is to form an inclusive government with the participation of all ethnic and religious groups of this country”.
According BBC, Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the caretaker government of the Taliban, responded to these proposals from Afghanistan’s neighboring countries and said that the introduction of a new cabinet in Afghanistan will take time due to the absence of a constitution, the Shura Council and the non-return of Afghans to their country.
“It will take a little more time for us to move towards stability,” he told reporters at yesterday’s meeting. First, some Afghans are not in the country and live abroad. Second, some government bodies still do not exist, the work of drafting the constitution has not yet been completed and the Shura Council has not been formed. Once these elements of the system are completed, the situation will return to normal.
