Kabul: The British government has announced that it will provide a new air defense aid package to help protect Ukraine’s civilians and its critical national infrastructure to counter Russian aerial attacks.
According to the British government’s website announcement, Rishi Sunak, the Prime Minister of this country, during his first visit to Ukraine and meeting with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has confirmed that the UK will provide a new air defense aid package to help protect Ukraine’s civilians and its critical national infrastructure in the face of Russian attacks on Kiev.
This is Mr. Sonak’s first visit to Kyiv since taking over as British Prime Minister in early November this year, a trip that shows his emphasis on continuing the previous government’s policy of defending Ukraine.
The Associated Press reported that with the approach of the winter season and the increase of Russian air attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, Britain has decided to send air defense equipment worth 50 million pound to this country.
The £50 million aid packages will comprises 125 anti-aircraft guns and technology to counter Iranian-supplied drones, including dozens of radars and anti-drone electronic warfare capability, the statement says.
Britain announced earlier this month that it will provide Ukraine with a thousand anti-aircraft missiles.
This report adds that Britain is one of the main supporters of Ukraine against Russia’s military invasion and has provided 2.7 billion dollars in military aid to the Ukrainian army.
