Kabul: The Traffic Directorate announced that 700 people, have been killed and more than 1,000 others have been injured, in traffic accidents over the past eight months in Afghanistan. Among them, 300 traffic accidents have only happened in Kabul.
These figures were announced by the General Directorate of Afghan Traffic on the occasion of World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.
Abdul Wadud Khairkhah, an official of the traffic department, tells Bakhtar News that traffic incidents in Afghanistan have decreased by five percent compared to last year.
According to him, the victims of traffic accidents included 453 men, 72 women and 182 children.
Roads and highways with signs and lines and road accidents on the country’s highways, especially for passengers, have been bloody and fatal.
Officials in the Traffic Accidents Department say that most of the causes of these accidents are “404” and “580” passenger buses as well as high-speed Corolla vehicles and a some people who drive at a high speed.
People emphasize that with the increase in traffic incidents, the government should decisively execute traffic rules in the country.
According the United Nation statistics, every year about 1.3 million people die in traffic accidents in the world and about 50 million people are injured.
