UN call treatment of Afghan women “crime against humanity”

AT

Kabul: Richard Bennett, the special rapporteur of the United Nations in Afghanistan’s human rights affairs, and a group of other experts of this organization have said that violating the rights of Afghan women and girls can be considered a humanitarian crime.

They said that despite existing restrictions on women in Afghanistan, new restrictions are imposed on them and more rights are taken away from them.

They added that girls are still not allowed to go to middle and high schools and women cannot go to parks and public bathrooms.

On the other hand, Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, says that “the United Nations punishes all Afghans by imposing sanctions under the title of defending women’s rights, which is a crime against humanity.”
