Kabul: The 10th Herat security dialogue with the title “Inclusive Political System, Patterns and Roadmaps” started at the central library of Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, with speeches by representatives from the host country.
Since 2012, this meeting has been held every year by the Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies (AISS) in Herat, but this year, after the fall of the republic, it is the first time that it is hosted by another country.
The Herat security meeting has started with the presence of former Afghan politicians, civil society members, media representatives, diplomats and university professors from different countries, representatives of international regional institutions, representatives of the European Union and the charge d’affaires of the American Embassy in Afghanistan, and will continue for the next two days.
“Mozaffar Hosseinzadeh,” Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan, in the opening speech of this meeting, expressed his concern about the growth of terrorist groups, especially ISIS and Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, and added that drug trafficking has also grown significantly in the last year.
Criticizing the interim government of the Taliban, he also said that Tajikistan emphasizes and supports the creation of an inclusive and responsive government in Afghanistan.
This Tajik diplomat also clarified that this is an expert meeting and is not against any government political system, but rather a platform for diverse dialogue regarding Afghanistan issues.
