AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The ex-President Hamid Karzai said that foreign forces in Afghanistan have failed to bring peace to the war-hit country.
In an interview with Trend News Agency in Azerbaijan, Hamid Karzai said that through NATO during its mission in Afghanistan wanted to help Afghan, failed to bring stability to Afghanistan. “The foreign forces are yet to bring lasting peace and stability to Afghanistan, as people of the country are still suffering at the hands mounting militancy,” he added.
Talking about recent situation in Afghanistan, Karzai said that the country is on the right track towards development. “A new government has been established in Afghanistan and Afghan masses opted for electing country’s leader through a democratic process,” he added. Karzai hoped that situation in Afghanistan will further improve.
The former Afghan president also urged Azerbaijan to open its embassy in Afghanistan. “The move will further improve ties between the two countries,” Karzai said. He added that the two countries share common history and cultural similarities. Karzai said that the two countries should work together to enhance bilateral cooperation.
“Afghanistan opened its embassy in Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan, and we hope that Azerbaijan will also open its embassy in Kabul,” he added.
Karzai said that Kabul was interested in expansion of economic relations with Baku.
Talking about importance of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project, Hamid Karzai said that the rail route is the easier way to connect Afghanistan to Europe.
