AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Chairman of Awami National Party, Asfandyar Wali Khan, said that the party will resist against changes to the original map of Gawadar-Kashgar economic corridor.
Talking after a party meeting, the prominent Pashtun nationalist leader said that his party will spare no efforts to prevent the Pakistani government from brining changes to the route. He announced to call on all-party meeting in Khyber Pahktunkhwa and Baluchistan.
The original route was expected to pass through conflict-hit areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan. However, the federal government wants the route to pass through Punjab province of Pakistan.
Asfandyar Wali Khan said that the tribal belt has been left out in the new map of the economic corridor.
He added that the Pakistani government is intended to give 70 percent share of the project to Punjab and 30 percent to all other provinces. “A delegation of ANP will also hold meeting with the Chinese ambassador in Islamabad to brief him on concerns of the party regarding the proposed changes in the economic corridor,” he said.
