Kabul: Local sources from Parwan province have informed about the blocking of Salang highway due to heavy snowfall and storm.
According to them, the Salang highway in Parwan province has been blocked for travelers this morning, Wednesday, January 21, after heavy snowfall accompanied by a storm.
The manager of Salang’s maintenance also confirmed the blocking of this highway and said that the cleaning work and efforts to reopen the Salang’s highway are underway.
Meanwhile the head of information and culture of Faryab province said that the roads of most of the districts with the center of Faryab are blocked.
He added that the snowfall in Kohistanat district of this province was heavy, and the transportation route of this district was completely blocked.
The head of disaster management in Badakhshan province also told media that as a result of snowdrifts, the road between Shaki and Nesi districts was blocked with the center.
He added that with the blocking of the roads of these two districts, the economic problems of the people have increased and they need humanitarian aid.
In the last four years, this is the first winter that all 9 Northern provinces of the country witnessed snowfall at the same time, but this snowfall has aggravated the problems of transportation routes and non-standard roads.
