Kabul: The German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development has announced that this country will provide education to 5 thousand Afghan women who have taken refuge to Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan.
This program has a cost of about 7 million euros, which is paid by the German government.
The German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development has written on its website that “Depriving half of the population of education deprives this country of opportunities, without educated women; there is no way to get rid of hunger and poverty.”
According to this program, Germany offers undergraduate scholarships in Bangladesh at the Asian Women’s University in Chittagong. In Kyrgyzstan, female students at the American University of Central Asia in Bishkek are financially supported for two years. In Pakistan, four-year bachelors and two-year master’s scholarships will be given mainly to Afghan female refugees.
These scholarships will be awarded through partner organizations of the German government, such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the Asian University for Women and the American University of Central Asia.
