AT-KABUL: Amidst growing insecurity in parts of the country, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) on Wednesday said the security forces are well prepared to fight terrorism and ensure security in every hook and nook of Afghanistan.
“No village will fall in hands of the Taliban. The Afghan National Army (ANA) troops are all set to defend the country in case of any threat by militants,” the MoD deputy spokesperson, Dawlat Waziri, told a press conference.
Hinting at military operations carried out in several parts of the country, he said 21 military operations are ongoing in 13 provinces, where insurgents sustained heavy casualties.
He said that nearly 58 militants were killed, 41 wounded and 10 others were arrested in past two days.
He added that 65 mines recovered and neutralized during the military operations. “Different districts cleared of insurgents in Ghazni, Kunar, Nangarhar, Zabul and Badakhshan provinces,” he said.
He said that lusts of rebels were killed in Badakhshan and the beheaded soldiers’ revenge has been taken by the army troops in the past few days.
About Kunduz security, he said that additional troops have been sent the province along with air forces and currently security is under control of the corps and the militants are escaping the areas.
“No district is under control of the Taliban. The militants use locals as defense shield in Kunduz, therefore the security forces continue their clearance operation carefully in a bid to avoid civilian casualties,” he noted.
According to him, roadside blasts are also a challenge for security troops in the province.
The MoI spokesperson, Sediq Seddiqi, said the security forces have full concentrate on Kunduz and the Taliban militants have suffered heavy casualties in Imam Sahib, Gor Tepa and Qala-i-Zal districts of the province in recent days. “War is under control of the security troops and they have defeated the Taliban in Kunduz clash,” he added.
He assured the citizens that the security forces are well capable of defending the country, and said: “Taliban will fail against the security forces same as the past years.”
