Kabul: India announced Rs 200 crore ($24.3 million) for Afghanistan in the Union Budget 2023-24, which was presented on Wednesday by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
New Delhi development assistance for the Afghanistan in the budget, is the same amount announced in last year’s budget.
Notably, India has continued its support to Afghanistan for the second year in a row since the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul, despite not recognizing the regime.
New Delhi has several times emphasised the historic links with the Afghan people and also sent consignments of wheat, vaccines and humanitarian support to the country.
However the Afghan interim government has urged India to resume work on their projects in Afghanistan but due to concerns, India has not resumed work on its funded projects since August 2021.
