Kabul: Thomas West, the US special representative for Afghanistan in a meeting with political figures and members of the Afghan civil society in Istanbul, says that they considered dialogue as the solution to the Afghanistan crisis.
The US special representative in Afghanistan added in a tweet that “Another theme was that there needs to be a peaceful way forward. Dialogue is the preferred path, not violence.”
Mr. West has noted that the United States supports a “dialogue between Afghans” to determine the future of their country.
The US special representative in Afghanistan has also expressed “deep” concern over the decisions, especially on the rights of Afghan women to an education, work and a future.
According to reports, Mr. West has had many meetings with Afghan politicians in Turkey, including Salahuddin Rabbani, Mohammad Karim Khalili and Batur Dostum.
Mr. West had previously said at the meeting of “Afghanistan’s Future Thought Forum” in UAE that the Afghan people “needs interaction” and dialogue to solve the challenges and “opposed” armed conflicts.
