Kabul: Gillian Triggs, UNHCR’s Assistant High Commissioner for Protection, arrived in Kabul on Sunday afternoon and stressed the importance of the inclusion of female staff in aid delivery in Afghanistan, Tolo news reported.
This UN official adds that women’s work will allow humanitarian aid to be provided to needy families in Afghanistan in a fundamental way.
“It is equally clear that we will be advocating with the government that they ensure that men and women are able to be part of the United Nations and UN refugees agencies team to ensure that protection is available and we will certainly be making that argument to the government over these next couple of days,” she told reporters in Kabul.
Triggs is expected to visit several provinces including Bamiyan.
