Kabul: Sohail Shaheen, the head of the political office of the Taliban in Qatar, confirmed the reports about the appointment of the Afghan government’s charge d’affaires in New Delhi.
In a message to the media, he said: “Qadir Shah, who previously worked at the Afghan embassy in India, has been appointed as a charge d’affaires for the time being.”
It is said that Qadir Shah worked as the spokesperson of the National Security Council of Afghanistan in the previous regime before being assigned to the Afghan Embassy in India.
The Indian government has not yet commented on this issue.
previously some media, quoting a former diplomat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, announced that the Indian government has handed over the Afghan embassy in New Delhi to the Taliban.
These media had emphasized that the Indian government has agreed with the Taliban envoy as acting head of the Afghan embassy in New Delhi.
Following Pakistan, Iran, China, Turkey, UAE and Russia, India has handed over the Afghan embassy to the Taliban government in the latest case.
