AT-KABUL: The Minister of Interior, Noor-ul-Haq Ulumi, said that they will not allow terrorist groups to operate in Afghanistan under new facades.
While addressing police troops on Wednesday, Ulumi appreciated the bravery and dedication of Afghan security forces. He said that security forces have now developed the capabilities to protect Afghans against terrorist attacks.
He stressed that security forces will suppress all old militant groups, who are currently operating under a new façade. “Afghan security forces, particularly special police force, have developed sufficient capabilities to thwart the nefarious designs of the enemies of Afghanistan,” he said.
Ulumi added that terrorist are hell-bent on killing innocent Afghans and they show no mercy on civilians, including women and children. He also commended people’s support for Afghan forces.
While talking about presence of the Islamic State (IS) fighters in Afghanistan, Ulumi said that the group has no place in Afghanistan. “The IS cannot gain a foothold in Afghanistan and our security forces will spare no efforts to prevent from activities of the terrorist group in Afghanistan,” he assured.
The comments came at a time that recently ISIS, also known as Daesh, has mounted its activities in various provinces of Afghanistan.
